Classic Layout, Element Article, Undo/Redo, and Roadmap

The tail end of winter has been quite fierce—from the blizzards on the US East Coast to the rare heavy snow in Tokyo, we hope everyone is staying safe. As spring arrives and cherry blossoms begin to bloom, Tasmap is ready to embrace the rhythm of the new year.

Over the past month, we have focused on making the map creation process more intuitive and flexible. Here are our recent updates:

New Features for More Flexibility

Classic Layout: Sometimes you just need a simple map. You can now create a "Map + Markers" combination similar to Google My Maps. Each marker corresponds to independent content, making it perfect for simple location collections or direct embedding into your website.

Element Article: In addition to the previous "linking elements to a main article" workflow, you can now create independent articles for a single location or path, allowing for more flexible information presentation.

Undo / Redo: Accidentally deleted a marker? Mess up the color? You can now undo or redo any operation on the map at any time (including markers, paths, sizes, colors, and labels). Feel free to experiment without fear of breaking your work.

AI Marker Coloring (Experimental): Adjusting marker colors one by one after setting a map theme can be time-consuming. Now, you can let AI automatically suggest harmonious colors based on your current map theme and marker types.

Editor Experience & Detail Optimization

Editor Upgrade: The text editor now supports Markdown lists and features improved Input Method Editor (IME) smoothness.

A Freer Interface: The search box can now be freely dragged and resized. Additionally, map menu buttons can be placed in any of the four corners of the screen so they don't block your view.

Focus: In the map element settings, non-essential advanced options are now collapsed by default to keep the interface clean.

Smooth Animation & Performance: We’ve fixed the marker bounce animations to ensure they are smooth at all times. Furthermore, we’ve improved rendering performance—even with hundreds of markers displayed simultaneously, browsing remains fluid.

Upcoming Spring Plans

Tasmap’s core goal has always been "to let users create beautiful maps easily." Over the next few months, we will focus on the following:

Website Revamp: Tasmap is one year old! The product has grown significantly over the past year, but the website still looks the same as it did a year ago. Many features, designs, ideas, and possibilities haven't been effectively communicated, which is a pity. Therefore, we will be conducting a major website revamp to better convey Tasmap’s value and make it easier to get started.

Data Import: Now that the editor is stable, we want to lower the barrier for bringing data into the platform. In addition to supporting traditional KML/KMZ and CSV formats, we are developing features to import directly from documents, photo albums, or web pages. Our goal: no matter where your data is or what it looks like, it can be easily converted into a map.

Cards and Album Layout: These two layouts haven't been updated in a while, so we'll revamp them with a modern design and unlock their full potential.

Continuous Polishing: This includes refining the publish/draft mechanism, resolving map marker overlap/collision issues, and establishing a more comprehensive testing system to make Tasmap increasingly stable.

Thank you all for your company and feedback over the past year. Go build a new map and try it out!
