Pricing Update

Yes, as mentioned during our summer product update, we are raising our prices.

TL;DR

  • The new pricing model will use a single subscription plus addon packs.
  • Existing subscribers will keep their current rates and terms unchanged, with the addition of a credit limit.

Why?

First, the prices you currently see were set in early 2025 when Tasmap first launched. If you are an early user who has not visited in a while, you will notice that today's Tasmap is no longer the same product. That original pricing can no longer reflect the product's value. If you compare us with similar products, you will find our prices are surprisingly low, and some users have even expressed doubts about the sustainability and underlying quality of such pricing.

Second, our current pricing model makes it difficult to develop new features. Few companies discuss this openly, but I want to be transparent here. A product like Tasmap relies heavily on third party data and services, such as geographic datasets, location search, and address geocoding. These dependencies represent unavoidable costs, and if Tasmap is to continue growing, relying on these services is essential. Therefore, we must adjust our pricing model to handle these expenses. Relying solely on a flat subscription model while shifting the cost of analyzing tens of thousands of data records onto other users simply is not fair.

Finally, regarding AI: A year ago, I wrote about our perspective on AI: AI is a helper, not a master. We will stick with this position. At the same time, AI models have advanced rapidly over the past year, and recent months have brought breakthroughs in cost efficiency. As a result, many features that were previously impractical or prohibitively expensive are now achievable. This is another reason we need a new pricing structure: AI costs cannot be bundled into a subscription without limits. That is neither reasonable nor healthy, because those expenses would simply have to be quietly recovered elsewhere.

The New Pricing

We like to keep things simple so you do not have to spend too much time staring at our pricing page. The new pricing is straightforward: a free tier, a single subscription tier, and addon packs. The free tier lets you craft a complete, high quality map. The paid tier includes advanced commercial features such as custom branding and team collaboration, along with higher usage allowances. The plans are as follows:

Free

  • All map editing features
  • Limited branding capabilities
  • Includes "Built with Tasmap" promotional badge
  • 3 maps
  • 100 MB storage
  • 1,000 views per month
  • 50 credits per month

Pro: $25 per month

  • All map editing features
  • Full branding capabilities
  • No Tasmap promotional badge
  • 500 maps
  • 5 GB storage
  • 50,000 views per month
  • 1,000 credits per month

Add Pack

  • $15 for 50,000 views
  • $15 for 1,000 credits

Q&A

Q: I am an existing paid subscriber. Will my price increase?

No. As long as you maintain your current subscription and do not actively cancel or switch plans, your original subscription price and existing core benefits (such as map counts, traffic limits, and features) will remain unaffected. The only change is the addition of the Credit system: we have added a monthly credit allowance to existing plans (400 credits per month for the Creator plan, and 1,000 credits per month for the Expert plan), which resets every billing cycle.

Q: Which features consume credits?

Credits are deducted only for features that rely on costly external APIs or model computation. Examples include AI assisted style design, geocoding and location searches during batch address or place name imports, and automatic AI tagging. Every feature requiring credits displays a clear prompt, and full usage logs are available in your dashboard. Currently, an AI map design consumes 1 credit, while importing a single data entry consumes only 0.5 credits, which means you can import 2,000 data entries per month for free. This is more than sufficient for the vast majority of use cases.

Q: If my views run out during the month, will my map go down immediately?

No. To save users from the stress of worrying about massive unexpected bills, view limits operate on a soft cap. If your map happens to go viral on social media or in the press and exceeds your monthly allowance, your map will remain online, and we will email you first. We will only enforce traffic limits in cases of prolonged, repeated, or massive overages.

Please note, however, that this is an extra courtesy provided under reasonable operational costs, not an open guarantee that exceeding limits indefinitely is acceptable.

Q: Can unused allowances roll over to the next month? What are the rules for addon packs?

  • Monthly included allowance: Resets each billing cycle and cannot be rolled over across months.
  • Addon packs: Purchased allowances never expire. The system always uses your monthly free or included allowance first, and will only draw from addon packs once that is depleted. Unused addon pack allowances remain in your account until you use them up. (Addon packs are available only to paid subscribers.)

Q: Is there an annual plan discount?

Yes. Annual billing is priced at 9 months of the monthly rate. The Pro annual plan is $225 per year (equivalent to $18.75 per month, saving you 3 full months of fees).

Q: This seems tedious. Why not just bundle everything into a flat monthly fee?

Because doing so is fundamentally an overpromise. Either light users end up subsidizing heavy users, or the platform quietly restricts service quality and model capability. We prefer simpler pricing: the $25 Pro plan covers the vast majority of user needs, while the few users who need to process massive amounts of location data or use AI heavily can purchase addon packs on demand.

That is about it. The purpose of this new pricing is to give us the freedom to build deeper features while ensuring the platform can operate sustainably over the long term. If you have any thoughts or feedback, please feel free to reply directly to this email or reach out to us.
